Can't autodetect firmware

Postby Mark » Mon Sep 05, 2016 3:41 pm

Hello.

I have ESPToy v1.22. After opening port 9600, When I click the FS Info button on ESPlorer v0.2.0-rc5, it responds "Can't autodetect firmware, because proper answer not received (may be unknown firmware)."

In Ray's update video, he has NodeMCU firmware. What is causing my firmware to be unknown? Thank you.

Have a great day!

Mark

P.S. I will send my other question in a separate topic, though it may be related.

Hi, sorry about the confusion. The new firmware is now written in Arduino (with ESP8266 core). If you prefer Lua firmware, you can flash the firmware yourself (instructions can be found at http://rayshobby.net/esptoy/#flashing). Again, sorry about the confusion...

Hi Ray,

Thank you for clarifying. I am looking for the Lua firmware. This URL is not working. https://github.com/nodemcu/nodemcu-firm ... /pre_build

Also should I decide to return to the arduino firmware, where can I find it?

Here is how you can set up Arduino with ESP8266 core:
https://github.com/esp8266/Arduino
If you are familiar with Makefile, I suggest using the makeESPArduino mentioned on the above page as it's really easy to use and eliminates the need to install Arduino software.

Also, there is a cloud-based Arduino IDE, which I believe also supports the ESP8266 core:
https://codebender.cc/

The demo that came with the ESPtoy can be found here:
